What we have here is a classic example of a something one might come to know as a “Knollism”. Now a “Knollism” can be a number of many things, be it a personal attribute, state of mind or an opinion. They all belong of course to the writer of this blog. So first let’s go through why blogging is a Knollism (I no longer feel the need to put the word Knollism in inverted commas as it should by now be a familiar phrase.)
This second paragraph is my second ever blogging experience. The first being the previous paragraph. So this is basically my first blogging experience. Scratch that idea that each paragraph is an experience, because that would mean that like many life experiences, they are short and disappointing, or long and dull. One can never be truly satisfied with the length of one’s paragraphs.
So back to why blogging is a Knollism. Well the reason comes from the Knollism that if there is something you don’t understand, you should ignore it for a while, and then crash head long into it, once everyone else is bored with it.
I remember a time when blogs were all the rage. Everyone had a blog. The world was waist-deep in blogs. I failed to make the move to this new way of using the internet until now. Now no-one seems to talk about blogs. Then again they might be, but in hushed whispers to keep the ignorant Reverend Knoll out of it. Well the Reverend has caught up with you!
Forget the crap I just wrote.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. And I suppose I’ve just stepped on my own foot really. I would have thought a sensible way to start a blog would be to introduce oneself. However I sense that maybe you’ve already worked out a fair amount about me already based on what I’ve already written. Which I suppose is the point of any creative activity, be it art, music, drama or, as is displayed here, writing.
Why the sudden urge to start a blog? The answer is simple. I currently live on YouTube more or less. With one channel dedicated to making films, sketches and web series, and another dedicated to make a vlog (video diary type thing) everyday for at least a year. Whilst these are both excellent, honest ways of expressing myself, I still feel there is an inner core which hasn’t been exposed yet. An inner core teeming with interesting ponderings and possibilities. It is an inner core that should be seen and not heard, hence being in the form of writing, hence the blog.
This blog will have little, or no boundaries. There will be no fixed time when I post. There will be no fixed length to what I post. And there will be no fixed reason why I post. Topics and styles will change a lot. Some posts may even take the form of short stories written in prose… or in the form of a screenplay, a medium which I am often more comfortable with.
And so ends this first blogging adventure. It’s been an epic journey of discovery in which I have all ready learnt many things. Now I leave you with this:
INT. BEDROOM. NIGHT
In the pitch blackness of night we hear the tapping of buttons as the camera pans towards the wall. A glow bounces from the wall. The camera continues to move until the REVEREND KNOLL is revealed, sitting at a laptop, his face lit only by the shine of the screen, as he types away on his first every blog post…
REV. KNOLL
Oh shit… I just broke the fourth wall… oh shit, and again… and again…
Oh shit… I just broke the fourth wall… oh shit, and again… and again…
